1. PRESSURE
Normally, about 98.5% of oxygen is carried by red blood cells, while just 1.5% dissolves in blood plasma.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy increases air pressure, allowing much more oxygen to dissolve directly into the plasma—creating a form of "liquid oxygen" that penetrates deeper into tissues.
Pressure is measured in ATA (atmospheres absolute) or PSI (pounds per square inch). Sea level pressure is 1.0 ATA or 14.7 PSI.
Raising the pressure is the key element of HBOT, as it significantly increases the therapeutic oxygen dose.
2. DURATION
The usual session time at full pressure is 60-90 minutes. It does not include the time it takes to go up and down in pressure.
3. SESSION INTERVAL
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is cumulative and most effective when done in consecutive sessions, as different healing mechanisms are gradually activated.
The standard protocol typically involves 40 sessions, usually done 5–6 times per week. This number isn't based on specific studies but has become common through clinical use.
The oxygen dose depends on pressure, session length, and whether additional oxygen is used. Interestingly, benefits have been observed at both low pressure (1.3 ATA) and high pressure (2.4 ATA). Experts like Dr. Jason Sonners suggest 70–80 sessions may be ideal at lower pressures.
Recent findings show that pressure changes themselves—not just oxygen—trigger healing by stimulating stem cell production and other regenerative effects.
You can dive once or twice a day. When diving twice a day, make syre to have at least 4 hours in between to prevent oxygen overload.
After completing 40-60 sessions, take a break for 1-2 weeks.
4. ADDITIONAL TIPS
Best Time to Dive
For beginners or those with chronic conditions, start slow and gradually increase time and pressure. If sleep is disrupted, stick to morning sessions only.
Use the Valves
Pressure cycling boosts stem cell production and brings in fresh air. Crack a window nearby for better airflow and comfort.
Stay Cool
Place a fan near the compressor or try a pet cooling mat. Avoid electronics if you're sensitive to EMFs.
Enhance Your Sessions
Support detox and energy by adding red light therapy or hydrogen water before/after diving. Take nightly Epsom flake baths to help flush out toxins.
Track Your Progress
Keep a journal to monitor changes and improvements.
When to Skip a Dive
Avoid sessions if you’re sick or congested—pressure changes can hurt your ears.
Consistency Matters
Commit to 5–7 sessions a week for up to 60 dives. Healing takes time and dedication.
Diet Makes a Difference
Stick to whole foods, limit sugar, dairy, and oils. Toxic products (lotions, cleaners, etc.) can block detox.
Hydrate Wisely
Drink plenty of water—but not right before your session.
Supplement Smart
Whole food vitamin C and hydrogen water can help with fatigue, detox, and herx reactions.
Herxheimer Reactions (Die-Off) & Retracing
As harmful microbes or toxins are cleared from the body, you might feel worse before you feel better. Symptoms can include headaches, fatigue, rashes, or mood changes.
Retracing is the body reprocessing old symptoms as part of deep healing—it may include past pain, memories, or emotional shifts.
How to Manage Die-Off
Go Slow: Increase treatment intensity gradually.
Reduce Toxic Load: Cut exposure to processed foods, chemicals, and environmental toxins.
Support Detox Pathways: Boost glutathione, drink lots of water, and ensure daily sweating, urination, and bowel movements.
Prioritize Sleep: Rest is when the body detoxes most.
Exercise and Sunlight: They support immunity and gut health.
